Creating, Customizing, and Reusing Rubrics
When it comes to defining objectives for the students, particularly within project based learning, clear rubrics can be not only helpful but often essential. Creating these rubrics within Schoology is quite easy and helpful! 1. (Adding Rubric) Within the Grade Setup tab, you can click on the "add" button on the right and toggle down to "Rubric". 2. (Customizing Rubric) After adding the title, you can use the template to fill in the different benchmarks and how student work will be evaluated. The learning objectives is just an additional option for adding more detail about the overarching goal for the assignment and how a student can meet each objective. 3. (Reusing Rubrics) To ensure you do not have to create new rubrics constantly, Schoology allows you to save rubrics under your "Resources" folder which you can add to new courses at the beginning of each semester or school year.

Schoology Basics: Grading
One of the biggest advantages of using a platform like Schoology is the built-in automated grading features. It is very customizable, though for those who still prefer or have greater familiarity to other systems (like sheets, excel, or gradequick) you can easily stick with those tools and just embed them into your Schoology course page. Grade Setup Within the course options on the left side of your dashboard, there is a tab called "Grade Setup". This is where you can customize the course and point values, student visibility, weighted tests/quizzes/assignments, etc... You can always change these settings, though once the semester begins, you should be aware of how certain changes to point total and weighted value can effect your grades. Nothing is ever irreversible, though depending on student visibility, unintended changes may lead to a confused student. Gradebook As with the grade setup page, the gradebook itself is not visible to students. They are able to see their own individual grades if you allow it (able to be adjusted in assignment settings). This is a great place to stick notes, set to either be private or as a shared conversation between you and your students.

Environmental Science: ESI-A | Schoology -- these events still weren't showing up on my google calendar this a.m. So I decided to hunt a little deeper... I went into the course and found that it has its own calendar, separate from mine. See below: Environmental Science: ESI-A | Schoology It looks like this -- it does NOT have my personal events on it, just Rachel's class material. Environmental Science: ESI-A | Schoology Scroll down to see Export options. Environmental Science: ESI-A | Schoology But alas, as a student I can't share it.
